Frequently Asked Questions

Vinyl Wrap FAQ

What is a vinyl car wrap?

A vinyl car wrap is a way to change the exterior color of your car by wrapping a large sheet of colored vinyl around each individual body panel, covering the entire exterior. It creates a completely new custom look, making your car stand out from the rest.

Does a vinyl wrap protect my car's paint?

Yes, vinyl wraps provide protection against minor scratches, rock chips, and harmful UV rays that can damage your vehicle's original paint job. It serves as an investment in preserving the condition of your car's paint. However, it will not be as effective as PPF, paint-protection film.

How long does a vinyl wrap typically last?

With proper care and maintenance, a high-quality vinyl wrap can last 3-5 years. However, areas that receive constant direct sunlight may only last 2-4 years. It's recommended to park your wrapped car in a covered area to maximize the wrap's lifespan.

How long does it take to install a full vehicle wrap?

The installation time for a full car wrap can range from 3-5 days, depending on the size of the vehicle, the complexity of the design, and the color/material of the vinyl.

Do you offer partial wraps or accent options?

Yes, we offer various partial wrap services like hood wraps, roof wraps, mirror wraps, chrome deletes (blacking out chrome trim), racing stripes, and custom decals or lettering.

What is a chrome delete?

A chrome delete is a process where we wrap all the chrome trim pieces on your car with a gloss or satin black vinyl, giving your vehicle a sleeker, more aggressive look by eliminating the chrome accents.

What's the difference between matte, satin, and gloss vinyl finishes?

Gloss vinyl has a shiny, reflective finish similar to a clear coat. Satin vinyl has a semi-gloss sheen, while matte vinyl has a completely flat, non-reflective appearance for a stealthy look.

Removal FAQ

Will removing the vinyl wrap damage my car's paint?

Vinyl wraps are safe for vehicles with a new or well-maintained factory paint job. However, they are not recommended for cars with weakened, cracked, damaged paint, or repainted panels as the removal process could further damage the affected areas.

Will the wrap leave any residue when removed?

High-quality vinyl wraps from brands like Avery Dennison, 3M, and Cheetah Wraps leave minimal adhesive residue when removed in under 5 years. However, lower-quality vinyl or wraps left on for extended periods may leave more significant residue requiring adhesive remover.

How do I remove the wrap?

The vinyl wrap can be removed by simply peeling the vinyl off starting at the edge. It would make it easier to remove by applying some heat to the vinyl with a heat gun. Over time, when the vinyl’s adhesive becomes too bonded to the paint through heat and age, it will leave off more glue residue. This glue residue will require a significant amount of adhesive remover to cover the entire vehicle. With Avery or 3M vinyl, there is significantly less residue if the vinyl is removed before 5 years. This can be a tedious task.

Alternatively, we can remove the wrap for you for a fee.

When should I remove the wrap?

It's recommended to remove the vinyl wrap between 3-4 years, as the adhesive can become too bonded to the paint over time, leaving more residue during removal. Removing the wrap before 5 years will minimize potential residue.

How long will it take to remove the wrap?

Vinyl wrap removal time can vary dramatically depending on the brand of vinyl, how long the wrap has been on, and the condition of the wrap. A well-maintained wrap removed in under 4 years would take under 8 hours. However, a wrap with a significant portion of the glue layer separated from the vinyl will require significantly more time to remove, up to 3 days.

Ceramic Coat FAQ

How long does it last?

Gtechniq Halo’s Flexible Ceramic Coat is rated to last up to 2 years.

What is a ceramic coating, and why should I get it?

A ceramic coating is a chemically bonding, ultra-dense flexible film that becomes the permanent surface of the vinyl wrap. It also helps reduce fingerprints and hand oils, keeping the vinyl looking fresh.

  • Hydrophobic Surface - low surface energy to improve dirt and water repellency.

  • Makes cleaning and drying the car a breeze.

  • Helps prevent staining from dirt, tree sap, and bird droppings.

  • Help reduce yellowing caused by UV rays

  • Reduces fingerprints and hand oils

  • Keeps the vinyl looking new and fresh

What parts can I get a ceramic coat on?
